2nd Annual All Goat Breeds Production Sale

September 29, 2013

Our second annual sale was held this year at the Camrose Regional Exhibition (CRE).  The CRE is a top facility and was able to accommodate all of our needs and more!  Our auctioneer, Ralph Fries, and announcer, Laurie Fries, did an excellent job of spicing up the sale and getting the animals sold. Once again we had bidders and sellers from B.C., Alberta and Saskatchewan. The sale led off at 11 a.m. with our annual “your choice” goat draw. We had 17 entries into the draw with the winning ticket going to Kerry O’ Donnell from Saskatchewan. Kerry was ecstatic to be able to choose her pick of John Henderson’s Lamancha doeling from White Treasure farm.  John was awarded the winnings of 83 tickets sold equaling $1080!

This year we again had a mixture of breeds entered into the sale consisting of Boer, Lamancha, Savannah, Angora and Kikos.  We added something new to the sale this year for the young folks in the crowd called the Kids For Kids Sale.  The first 5 consignments were strictly for the kids to bid on and brought a lot of smiles to some small faces.  Overall there was over $21,000 in sales to the consignors with 13 bucks being sold and 29 does. Average price per buck was $744.23 and average price per doe was $744.83. This year our top priced buck was a purebred Boer owned by Ken and Cindy Lischka and sold for $1750.00 with the top selling doe also a purebred Boer from the LIschka’s herd going for $1000.

The sale this year drummed up 15 consignors (3 more than last year) with 7 of them being new to the sale. Thanks to all of the consignors and buyers that took the time from their busy schedules to drive in and attend our sale.

Everyone is always welcome to attend the sale to check out the stock to find some new additions for their herd.  Next year we are planning to be bigger and better and hope to see you all there!
